Terms of Use

Scope

RPG Maker VX Ace Save Editor (the “Software”) is an unofficial tool for editing save data from offline, single-player games made with RPG Maker VX Ace, provided that the user has the authority to edit that save data.

The Software is a general-purpose save data editor that reads and writes standard SaveXX.rvdata2 files. It does not provide functions to bypass DRM, encryption, authentication, or other technical protection or restriction measures. It also does not provide functions to modify a game, an archive, or memory while a game is running.

License

Subject to these Terms of Use, the author grants the user a non-exclusive, non-transferable, royalty-free license to use the distributed executable of the Software for personal purposes.

Except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law, the user must not redistribute, sell, modify, create derivative works of, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Software.

Conditions of Use

The user must comply with applicable laws and the game author’s terms of use, and must only handle save data that the user has the authority to edit.

Do not use the Software for any of the following purposes:

Modifying online features, rankings, multiplayer matches, or fair play
Modifying data that the user does not have permission to edit
Circumventing encryption, tamper detection, access controls, or similar protections
Analyzing or modifying a game, an archive, or memory while a game is running
Any use prohibited by the game author

Save Data Safety

If you edit save data while the game is running, the game may overwrite the edited save with values from its memory. Close the game before saving.

The Software does not provide a backup restoration function. The user is responsible for manually restoring a backup and confirming the result.

Supported Scope

The Software does not guarantee operation with every game made with RPG Maker VX Ace.

A status of “Standard Format” means that the Software can read the structure of the save data. It does not guarantee that the game will successfully load the save data after editing.

Free Use and Donations

The Software is free to use.

Voluntary support is accepted through Buy Me a Coffee from users who wish to support development. The availability or amount of support does not change the Software’s features or conditions of use.

Warranty and Liability

The Software does not warrant that it will work correctly with any particular game, that an edited save data file will load correctly, or that save data will not be corrupted or lost.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the author is not liable for save data corruption or loss, inability to continue game progress, or any other problem resulting from the use of the Software or edited save data.

Rights

Copyright and other rights in the Software belong to their respective rights holders. The user receives no rights other than those expressly granted in these Terms of Use.

RPG Maker, each game, assets, trademarks, and other third-party rights belong to their respective rights holders.

Supported Environment

Target Environment

The Software is intended to run on Windows 11 x64.

Operation on environments other than Windows 11 x64, including Windows 10, is not guaranteed.

Target Games

The target games are offline, single-player games made with RPG Maker VX Ace that the user owns.

The following uses are outside the supported scope: affecting online features, rankings, multiplayer matches, or fair play; circumventing encryption, tamper detection, or access controls; analyzing the game itself; or making modifications prohibited by the author.

Support

The Software is provided free of charge as a personal development project. Individual support for specific environments or games, operating instructions, and save data recovery is not provided.

If you suspect a problem, please report as much information as possible. After reviewing the information, the author may fix or improve the Software when necessary.

There is no guarantee that every inquiry will receive a reply, that individual problems will be resolved, or that a corrected version will be provided.

Privacy

Local Processing

RPG Maker VX Ace Save Editor processes the save data selected by the user only on the user’s device.

The Software does not send the user’s save data to an external server.

Files Read

The Software reads the Save*.rvdata2 file selected by the user in the file selection dialog.

Files Created

When saving is confirmed, the Software creates the following file in the same folder as the target save data:

A .bak file whose name includes the local date and time of saving

After a normal exit, the Software attempts to delete unnecessary temporary files. If an abnormal exit or access denial occurs, a temporary file used for saving may remain.
